Can I use my existing columns and methods on the 500 Series GC?

In conventional mode, yes. The 500 Series accepts standard capillary columns from most manufacturers, as well as packed columns. If your current method runs on a conventional GC with a standard column, it should transfer to the 500 Series in conventional mode without issue.

In ultra-fast mode, the column requirements are different. Because the column is heated directly by electrical current, it must be made from deactivated stainless steel rather than fused silica. These columns are now widely available for common GC applications, but you may need to source a metal equivalent of your current column.

For method transfer, the key things to check are: oven temperature range required (up to 350°C in conventional mode), injector temperature (up to 600°C), column dimensions and phase, and detector type (FID, ECD, or TEA).

If you are running a validated method under a regulatory framework, method equivalence should be verified as part of the transfer. Ellutia can support this process.
