Does the TEA require a gas chromatograph?
It depends on what you need to measure.
For speciated analysis, where you need to identify and quantify individual nitrosamine compounds, yes. The TEA connects to a gas chromatograph which separates the sample into its components before they reach the detector. Each compound produces its own peak on the chromatogram. This is the GC-TEA configuration used for regulatory reporting under frameworks such as ICH M7.
For total nitrosamine screening, the TEA operates without a gas chromatograph as part of the ATNA system. The ATNA uses the TEA to detect total nitric oxide released from a heated sample, producing a single value for all nitrosamines present. No separation step is needed because you are measuring the total, not the individual compounds.
The TEA can also be connected to third-party gas chromatographs. It is not restricted to Ellutia GC systems, though using it with the 200 Series or 500 Series gives a fully integrated configuration with Ellution software control.
