What is the 7000 GC Flowmeter used for?
The 7000 GC Flowmeter measures carrier and detector gas flow rates in gas chromatography. Accurate gas flow is fundamental to consistent GC results, and small errors in flow can affect retention times, peak shape, and detector sensitivity without any obvious sign that something is wrong.
What it measures
The flowmeter works across eight gases used in GC as standard: air, argon, argon/5% methane, carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen. The flow range covers 0.1 to 500 ml/min (0.1 to 275 ml/min for CO₂) with a resolution of 0.1 ml/min and accuracy of ±0.4 ml/min or 2.5% of reading.
Three measurement modes
Standard flow mode measures flow rate directly. Linear velocity mode calculates and displays linear velocity based on your selected column diameter, so you can switch between flow and velocity with a single button press. Split flow mode lets you measure and store a column flow, then measure the split flow, displaying both the flow rate and split ratio at the same time.
Calibration and traceability
Every flowmeter ships with a 25-point calibration traceable to UKAS standards and includes a calibration certificate. Annual recalibration is recommended. Ellutia offers a recalibration service which returns the flowmeter to UKAS-traceable accuracy and includes a new certificate.
Built for the lab
The flowmeter is pocket-sized (68 x 130 x 30 mm, 150 g) with a rechargeable battery and large OLED display. It is designed and manufactured in the UK.
